As series of universities and Higher institutions continue to beat time disorganised by the two year covid outbreaks, the latest has been IUIU where there was excitement as many turned up to take back home their “degrees”.
The Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) held its 30th graduation ceremony in Mbale city. The university graduated over 2000 students from its four campuses namely Main Campus in Mbale, Kampala Campus at Kibuli, Females’ Campus in Wakiso and Arua Campus in the West Nile.
KINTU University also held a low key graduation with the always controversial city pastor A. Bugingo also among those who graduated from the same institute. National Council for Higer Education was quick enough to revert back saying the university was long closed and licensed revoked.
Meanwhile there was competition fashion and dress competition in the Kansanga based University Kampala International University as many turned up turned up the 25th graduation event.
“Today we are graduating 2,394, out of which 43% (1035) are females, and 57% (1359) are males. In terms of the quota contribution between main and western Campus, 52% (1240) have trained at the main campus, while 48% are from the Western Campus.” Says Education mogul who doubles as the Chairman BOT Dr. Al Hajj Basajjabalaba.
During his Speech the University Council Chairperson, Prof Fred Wabwire Mangen advised graduands not to wonder what to do next If you are wondering what to do next but rather reconsider returning back to KIU as an option.”
KIU is one of the very few Universities that stood the Covid-19 Challenges, and not only quickly adapted to the Open Distance and e-learning, and even conducted 3 virtual graduations. This is indeed a sign of being a leading University.” Stated prof. Mondo Kagonyera Former Chancellor, Makerere University.
