Uganda Athletic Federation and the entire Sports fraternity nationwide may have not crossed into 2024 excited as was expected but rather somber mood following the uncertain murder of Benjamin Kiplagat in Kenya by yet unknown persons.
The tragic news started as a mere rumor early yesterday on the last day of the year as new year preparations and celebrations were on high gear in most parts of the country.
Kenya authorities confirmed that the 34-year-old Ugandan runner was reportedly found dead in a car with wounds that seems to be like a stab with sharp object on his chest and neck in the outskirts of Eldoret, a location well known as a training place for most famous East African Athletes.
Kenyan Police have launched investigations to establish the cause of his tragic killing.
Kiplagat a semi finalist of the 2012 London Olympic 3,000m steeplechase had established paramount profile among Uganda’s medalist lists.
May the Lord receive him unto his rightful arms.
