Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister Norbert Mao returns to his homeland Gulu District in a celebration dubbed Norbert Mao Home Coming to celebrate the alliance with the NRM party. Earlier Ugandans woke up to the appointment of the Democratic Party President to an important office which divided not only his supporters but also DP into factions.
The event was remarkable and graced by several guests from different political parties especially those in IPOD, Members of Parliament such as Beatrice Anywar, DP Secretary General Fred Mukasa Mbidde, Siranda Gerald etc. The NRM Secretary General Richard Todwong clarified that Norbert Mao hasn’t joined the NRM party but rather signed an MOU to work with the government of Uganda just like the late Ssebaana and other historic opposition leaders. Todwong went ahead to acknowledge that Mao’s MOU with NRM party is in the interest of the people especially the Acholi People claiming that someone had to stand in to unite the country.
“A tree can not live without it’s roots. I am the tree and the people are the roots. We have to stick together” Those were Norbert Mao’s words of return to his roots. Mao says he has returned to Gulu to continue the political work, depel fear and align the people to keep up the hard work and renew hope. He had been away from his homeland since 2011 when he was Local Council V to lead Democratic Party as Party President.
The Minister received precious gifts especially cattle from well wishers and supporters both individually and on behalf of political parties which states his political career isn’t dead as many claimed but rather at a climax.
