Lukwago who is the Deputy President of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) yesterday during the consultative meeting held at Nsambya Sharing Hall Monday 17th July echoed that top leaders failed to organise the NEC retreat to resolve various issues within the party including the suspicious billions of shillings during the 2021 Election campaigns.
The Forum for Democratic Change in a letter posted on social media disregarded the consultative meeting chaired by Hon. Ssemuju Nganda and a faction of the party. The Kira municipality MP who is also the party spokesperson is accused of holding party meeting without authorisation of the Electoral Commission. Chief Electoral Commissioner Boniface Toterebuka joined by other leaders issued a statement at a press conference yesterday calling Ssemuju to face displinary action over allegedly speaking ill of the party.
On Thursday 12th May 2023, the FDC National Executive Committee adopted the Structure Building Road map 2023 and resolved to start implementing the Structure Elections Roadmap, however along the way some leaders/members weren’t in agreement with NEC especially the failure to table agenda to ascertain and explain where the suspicious billions of shillings came from and how it was spent during the 2021 elections.
Though the party has issued positive statements on togetherness to resove the issues, some political Analysts like Paul Wakida believe the party could be divided due to different unresolved key issues.
