Gunmen last night (Sunday) attacked a Police Post in Kyanja, an outskirt of Kampala at the wee hours of the night. Fortunately, they were repelled by heavy fire exchange. The Campusa Magazine established report that these gunmen arrived on the notorious boda boda bike and fired killer bullets directly to the police station. According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesman Luke Owoyesigire, Police is yet to establish the motive of the attack.
Unlike other attacks, they were later overpowered and repelled as they fled. Given the several cameras around, the men are yet to be unmasked. Kyanja, a suburb in Kisaasi has over the years been criminal hotspot in the entire Kampala Metropolitan Area. In 2021 one person was killed in a bomb blast whereas the Assistant Inspector of Police Andrew Felix Kaweesi was gunned down along Kisasi in 2017. Also Abasi Abubakar, A Muslim cleric was shot dead in Kyanja years ago…amongst several historical criminal incidences in the area. It shouldn’t be forgotten that Just few weeks ago another Police post was attacked in the outskirt city suburb by unknown gunmen.
It’s such rampant criminal cases involving boda boda men that prompted government to order re-registration of motorcycles in the country in bid to curb criminality. However, despite heavy camera installations throughout Kampala, the police has no wonder not achieved much in unveiling the notorious gunmen terrorizing the city. Court cases are dragged, and few victims are convicted but against all odds, Ugandans want Police to uncover the mystery behind city murders.
Citizens are encouraged of vigilance especially while choosing boda boda riders all the time. Whereas many claim safety, majority murders have been supported by unregistered motorcycles.
The Campusa Magazine encourages all its followers to be vigilant and take extra personal security awareness.
