One of Africa’s leading University which is state owned, Makerere University graduated over 12,000 students in different fields from Monday 23rd with the last slot slated for tomorrow Friday the 27th of May.
Prof. Ezra Suruma, University Chancellor in his opening speech enlightened graduands to be mindful of their direction and destination as he insights that the University has strengthened and empowered them to thrive and prosper whereas Vice Chancellor Prof. Banarbus Nawangwe added by encouraging gallant Makerereans to keep up with personal contributions towards the good of Makerere’s agenda.
Despite the pandemic and its effects on education with several lockdowns, learning continued and indeed the fruits sprouted with a total of 100 PhD from all colleges, doctoral citations, and ofcourse surprises of young excellence; Ms Caroline Adoch, first female Doctor of Laws (LL.D) and Doctor of Mathematics at 29 years and thousands of Bachelors.
Julia Muhumuza emerged best student from MUBS and promised employment by the Principal Prof.Waswa Balungwa. We also recognised the 86th Former Guild President of Muk graduating with Degree in medicine, indeed leadership is embraced by intelligence.
With the progressive unemployment rate in the country, one would wonder where the thousands of intellectuals going to work but again its about luck, who you know and how determined one is.
