King Mswati who is in a three -day State visit in Uganda invited by President Museveni was amazed by the motor development project at Kiira Motors Plant in Jinja Dustrict which is 100% locally owned and managed. The plant which is at 95% completion caught King Mswati’s eyes being one of the few motor vehicle plant in Africa and also a project geared towards environmental sustainability. Kiira Motors Corporation is envisioned to be the best in class motor manufacturer in Africa championing value addition.
He also welcomed a proposal to build a trade partnership between Uganda and Eswatini towards localising the manufacture of vehicle components by African nations, something that President Museveni had oversight at. His visit comes ahead of the first-ever green Uganda e-mobility Expo which is scheduled to take place tomorrow with a theme ‘The Future is Green’.
While in Jinja, King Mswati visited the Kyabazinga of Busoga King Gabula Nadiope IV and wife Queen Jovia Mutesi at Igenge Royal Palace, where he advocated to promote trade and cultural partnerships between the two Kingdoms citing mutual interests in both Kingdoms. The Kyabazinga of Busoga appreciated President Museveni for creating a strong bond between Eswatini and Uganda by inviting King Mswati and his wife. He added that Eswatini and Busoga has a lot in common being predominantly youth population, respect and love for cultural heritage and on that ground the two should strengthen their relationships. King Gabula Nadiope IV had earlier visited Eswatini where he was highly welcomed, gifted Eswatini cows and even promised land for his cattle, something that potray hospitality of the Eswatini people.
In the presence of First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Affairs Rt. Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga, Minister for Presidency Hon. Babirye Milly Babalanda and others, King Mswati said there’s need to strengthen cooperation, build ties as members of the African Union which is fighting to improve the livelihood of her people.
