Former US President Donald Trump convicted! The business tycoon and politician has made history as the first President to be tried and convicted of a crime just few months towards the November elections.
A New York jury delivered the verdict two days after the hearing on Thursday 30th May after more than a month long trial and found Trump guilty of all 34 counts. The former President had been accused of falsifying business documents in relation to money payments made to film star Stormy Daniels in the 2016 US Presidential Election where he won.
The former Republican President however is set to face off against Democratic incumbent Joe Biden in November’s elections. Though Trump had pleaded not guilty, he faces four years jail time for each crime.
However, court observers and lawyers say he may not do jail time but rather probation or community services. Unfortunately for Trump all these is happening towards the start of the Republican National Convention in Wisconsin where he is to be announced as the party’s presidential nominee.
