A sad mourning morning for the nation as Uganda loses one of the veteran members of parliament.
Hon. Cecila Atim Ogwal, the incumbent MP for Dokolo District has crossover to eternity according to news that broke few minutes ago, as more details of her passing is yet to be revealed.
The Campusa Magazine has though established that Imat Cecilia passed on from Indian having lost the battle to cancer, a gangrene that she has suffered for quite a while.
“it is with heavy heart and pain that I announce the passing of our mother, mentor, and role model Imat Cecilia Atim Ogwal…. I send my sincere sympathies to her dear husband and the family, friend, the people of Lango and colleagues!” A sad message from Hon. Annet Among, the Speaker of Parliament partly read.
The outspoken 77-year-old veteran honorable was a dignified Ugandan politician for the last 28 years representing the people of Dokolo constituency having gone through University of Nairobi, Haggai Institute Singapore and Uganda Management Institute among others.
Referred to as “The Iron Lady” due to her vocal prowess and eloquence while handling political matters, she represented the people of Lira in the constituent assembly before losing to Jimmy Akena, the son of the late president Milton Obote.
A staunch member of Uganda People’s Congress before crossing over to Dr. Kizza Besigye’s Forum for Democratic Change. She was also a beauty queen a former miss Uganda and a people’s person.
She will surely be remembered for her pivotal role in checking government’s feebleness over time.
