President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has stated that ADF are now defeated and have no hiding place in the Jungles of Eastern Congo.
Speaking during his routine presidential address on matters of national security yesterday from the corner of his Rakitura home, Museveni sated that he was well convinced to have defeated the notorious terrorist group.

“ADF killed a number of Sheikhs in Uganda; killed Maj Mohammed Kiggundu and Gen Edward Katumba’s daughter. They were able to do this because we had not been allowed to pursue them in DR Congo.
When the Sudan government allowed us to hunt Joseph Kony, he could not stay in South Sudan, Garamba of any other area in Sudan. He had to flee.
When ADF hid in DR Congo, we could force our way there because they were being haboured by Kabila and other past governments. We had to exercise strategic patience until November 2021 when the Congo government under the leadership of Felix Tshisekedi allowed us to operate in Congo against ADF. If they had sense in their heads they could have known that there was no way they would survive us. We have really hit them. Even yesterday we were on them. So many of them had been killed and so many people had been liberated.
Even here in my room , we have some young girls who escaped when we were hitting the ADF.”
Joined by some ADF escapee women, he said the same way UPDF followed Kony in Sudan untill Central Africa Republic, there was no other option but to follow suit of the rebels in Congo forest after a green light from DRC president.
“ADF does not share any of these principles. They started as Islamic group; that they want to run Uganda on Sharia law. How unserious! Sharia law in Uganda! This is our land. It is not the land of Arabs or Europeans. How can you even think about it! If you want Sharia law then implement it in your house, but not in our government. If you got sense in your head dare not think of bringing that in Uganda”
He concluded by encouraging Ugandans to continue being vigilant and embrace wealth creation.
