Fans of UB40 in Uganda will have to wait a little bit for them to see the legendary band in the Next Media’s controversial “UB40ftAliCambell” long awaited concert in Uganda. The show was mysteriously called off two days to the unanimously advertised event throughout the year.
According to the sponsors of this NBS’s “NEXT BIG THING” which was slated to happen at Kololo Independence Ground on 21st December 2023, it wouldn’t happen due to uncertain event regarding the venue, A joint notice by Next Media and Talent Africa, the main sponsors of the event partly read ,“It is with sincere regret and disappointment that we announce the unexpected postponement of the UB40 featuring Ali Campbell concert scheduled for the 21st of December 2023 at Kololo independence grounds due to unforeseeable event at the same venue that is beyond our control…”
The Campusa Magazine has now gathered reliable information that the contested venue that has since been turned to an everyday breathless bee-hive of the nation’s activities both religious, political, business and sports home was scheduled to host another event on the same date!.
This event that overtook UB40ftAliCambell’s concert is a political glamour of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni meeting “De Ghetto Yutz”, a marginalized NRM young bloods residing in the slums of Uganda’s CBD- Kampala. During this political public show, the Chief ruling party, bush war veteran took to the stage and “sung his lungs out” to the youths who gathered to listen to him ahead of his 2026 political major come back.
The previous day, the same venue graced a book launch event for the former speaker of parliament Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga’s maiden book titled “The Pathway to Greatness” to which Museveni was himself the Chief Guest and attended by many guests including Timothy Kadaga- a former Guild President of UCU and a son to Rebecca Kadaga, Anne Kabagambe, Mrs Jane Kibirige- a former clerk to parliament among others. The event happened few hours after she secretly picked her car gift from parliament off the public eyes.
Party goers and fans of “UB40” in Uganda were left without any option rather than keenly keeping their tickets and fast forwarding to Christmas as they wait next scheduled date that will be announced soon.
