Gulu University-Main Campus in Gulu City suffered a devastating loss following a sudden devour by stormy wind on Wednesday evening. According to official university communication following the unfortunate event, The Gulu based government campus experienced upscale disaster between 4:15pm to 6:00pm that damaged several roofs, uprooted trees, and two huge tents were blown off.
Infrastructure worth millions of shillings were destroyed including the roof of Accounts building in the Faculty of Business and Development Studies, Offices at the Faculty of Education and Humanities, Academic Registrar Building, and the Main Library among others. The merciless wind did spare the surrounding tress but rather uprooted them too throwing them on the water reservoir tank.
Further devastation was taken the forested vegetation with clear underneath that students use for reading nicknamed ‘Garamba’. The falling trees also in turn smashed windscreens and mirrors of both staff and student cars that were parked at the University Yards.
It is that time of the year that there is heavy downpour nationwide.
