This is what comedy lovers around Kampala packed back home from the three big comedy shows yesterday.
The shows that included Onen Andrews’s the proper Ugandan without propaganda Live Band Meets Comedy at Emin Pasha Hotel & Spa was spectacular with charming pieces from Uganda’s top notch Janzi Band featuring award winning urban comedian emcees Mudhasi and Don Andre. Many turned up for this laugh-fest as it was a give back free entrance without price tag. The low key standup comedian has appeared on national televisions on several occasions and traversed across Uganda cracking ribs with immense jokes.
As the Apala to Kampala comic went on, Okello Okello’s Comedy Black Friday was synchronously happening at National Theater in a three-year anniversary celebration with non-stop laughter. This time round the dark comedian as he brags to be known as invited both upcoming comedians and international acts across the region.
The show which was scheduled to start at 6pm started around 8pm with a violinist putting up a splendid number of cover songs while receiving applause from the silent comedy audience. Among those who put up top notched punchlines included Kalela, Option Allan the Mulago boy who has his show coming next on the same venue next month, Dr Hillary, Arua born Sundiata, Michael from Rwanda & few promising lads. The event ended shortly towards midnight with a cake cutting.
Meanwhile in Lugogo, the same laughing business was peaked by the comical duo Madrat & Chiko’s NsekoBuseko S4. Several lineup comedians and artists came through to support the show and those who performed gave the audience their best. The endless list include Teacher Mpamire,Golola Moses, Pastor Wilson Bugembe, amongst others.
With good lighting and great production, the audience couldn’t hesitate giving the duo of the night standing applause the moment they stepped on stage.
As he ended his electric performance, the current boy of Kamwokya Alien Skin requested Big Size Bebe Cool to as well attend upcoming show of Clever J who has recently changed his name to “Smart Jose”, Cool gave it a positive nod after dashing unspecified amounts of notes to the Party Party singer.
Uganda’s comedy industry has grown over time and seen several comedians tap the industry unto international stages such as Padrick Salvador, Anne Kansiime, Alex Muahngi etc.
