More than 87 million eligible voters casted their ballot on Saturday for the Presidential race and governors amidst claims of delays and election malpractices.
The race which was highly contested involved former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of Peoples Democratic Party, Lagos Governor Bola Tinubu of Progressive Congress, Peter Obi of Labor Party who had dominance on message of change and other candidates.
The best candidate for Presidency would be one to address the failures of President Muhammad Buhari in fields of insecurity, unemployment, poverty and inflation which is eating up the economy despite the wealth in several minerals.
Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) by Sunday started compiling results of the 2023 elections citing patience and peace to avoid insecurity in the country.
The voting trend has been relatively the same in Muslim North and predominantly Christian South with majority votes dominance coming from States of Lagos, Kano and Kaduna. Several Artistes joined in calling for free and fair elections including Grammy winner Burnas Boy who twitted ‘No try any result magic’.
PDP’s candidate Abubakar urged INEC to upload the results immediately accusing some governors of compromising the process. Abubakar who lost in 2019 Election petition accusing Buhari of fraud is feared to do the same in the 2023 Presidential Elections.
