The Graduation week finally ends with thousands of fresh graduates from the 73rd Makerere University Graduation ceremony joining the labor market amidst raging unemployment level. The Minister of Education, First lady Hon. Janet.K Museveni addressed the congregation and called upon the council, parents and graduands to fight against the moral decay in society through participating in campaigns named ‘Makerere says no to HIV/AIDS and corruption.
In attendance was Prof.Wendy Thomson CBE, the Vice Chancellor of the University of London as recognised by Vice Chancellor Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe. Chancellor Prof. Ezra Suruma conferred degrees and diploma to thousands of students from college of Health Sciences, Natural Sciences, School of Laws, college of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Resource and Biosecurity acknowledging best Performing outstanding students in every college, with COBAMS producing majority graduands storming Freedom Square as a total of 1819 graduates. 891male, 928 female, 3PHDs, 376 masters, 11 post graduate diplomas and 1429 undergraduate students.
As the unemployment rate deepens among the youth, Pius Atinge, a fresh graduate from College of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Resource and Biosecurity defies the status quo of job seeking as he shares his entrepreneurial skills for his Poultry project with the Campusa Magazine.
The young entrepreneur is geared towards empowering social groups like teenage and single mothers, youth to adopt Maggot Production as the cheapest way of producing poultry feeds in bid to solve the issue of increasing cost of poultry feeds.
As a professional Veterinary doctor, Pius has all it takes to run a successful poultry farm and calls upon well wishes, stakeholders to join him in the business. The fresh graduate encourages youth to embark on self employment rather than job seeking live better lives.
