A sweet Valentine gift as High Court in Masaka has this afternoon finally granted the long awaited bail to the opposition duo MPs Hon Muhammad Ssegirinya & Allan Ssewanyana of Kawempe North & Makindye West respectively.
They were both arrested in September 2021 and accused of spear heading series of murders in greater Masaka. The two MPs were directed to pay a whooping 20m cash bond as well as depositing their respective passports to the court for custody.
A court room full to the brim with several opposition learnt lawyers such Mathias Mpugga (LOP), Hon. Medard L. Ssegona, Kamapala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, Hon Semujju Nganda etc. Judge Tweyanze ruled that the duo MPs, just like any other Ugandans have rights to court bail as far as enabling them seek advance medical attention. Known for spot checking the structure of NRM & FUFA Boss Magogo, Allan Ssewanyana will have a long way to restructure in his constituency.
They were asked to routinely report to the registrar of the international Crimes Division of the High Court once a month.
There was joy, happiness, and celebration in several parts of Kawempe and Makindye upon receipt of the release news. By the time of their arrests, the two MPs had embarked on series of developments in their areas of representations such as buying ambulances etc. Very cunning and swift in his actions, Hon Segirinya is now a free man after that court ruling.
