Despite the slide delay, Ministry of Education and Sports finally released the 2022 Primary Leaving Examinations today Friday 27th. Though currently the results are not available for physical access, UNEB encourages parents to electronically access their children’s results through Tele-communication help lines via text messages.
832,810 candidates sat exams from 14,153 centers with 51.9% female, 48.1% Male, 583,769 private students. Male candidates topped performance in three subjects that is; Sciences, Mathematics and Social Studies whereas female toped in English Language. Persons with Disability registered improvement in grades with one emerging ungraded.
Candidates of non-UPE performed better as observed in the previous years. The reasons are that teachers in Private schools spent more time in tasks, children spend more time in schools and parents invest more in education activities.
Therefore, there’s need to improve the availability of UPE students as well as access to studying facilities. Despite the decrease in Covid-19 virus, the effects were evidenced in the current performance though in conclusion the 2022 performance was better than the latter.
