MPs to vote on Namuganza’s Censure today 23rd January chaired by the Deputy Speaker Rt.Hon.Thomas Tayebwa. It’s alleged that Namuganza took to social media and television opinions questioning the operations, powers and integrity of the presiding officers of Parliament to form advocate committees.
It’s stated that her social media remarks imputed improper motives on Parliament. Several MPs including Hon. Medard Ssegona and Gilbert Olanya described the act as disrespectful, lacks humility to Parliament and suggested her appointment to be recalled.
Whereas Namuganza regrets her statements, responding to PM Robinnah Nabanjja and other Legislators, Majority MPs believes she is not remorseful hence called for her discipline (censure).
It’s not the first time Parliament is going through voting to censure their Members of Parliament. Hon. Zaake Francis went through the same and lost his Parliamentary office.
