Bizarre as the Western flight company registered another incident less than a month since the accident that claimed over 20 lives.
The incident involved a Bus no UBD 269A Scania belonging to the same “green bus” company Link Bus Services.
According to KMP deputy police spokesperson L.Owoyesigyire, fire prevention and rescue services officers responded on time and fortunately, the fire had already been extinguished by other first responders using a nearby fire extinguisher, water, and sand nearby.
This bus in particular is said to be traveling from Kasese to Kampala during the unfortunate incident before it caught fire at Wakaliga traffic lights.
The exact cause of the fire has not yet been established, but preliminary investigations have attributed it to a short circuit in one of the headlamps that ignited fire at the front part.
The fire prevention and rescue services have however noted that the bus had no fire extinguisher of its own during impromptu assessment.
Link Bus operation was of recent grounded for weeks and warned to put more passanger safety measures including installing cameras on board to monitor the activities of the driver piloting the moving machine.
