Scores of passengers are confirmed dead in double accidents this morning in Western and eastern part of the country. The first catastrophe happened in Fort Portal at 10;30Am when a Kampala-bound bus overturned along Fort Portal-Kyenjojo road this morning. The bus was travelling from Fort Portal when the accident happened at Ssebitoli in Kabarole District. Graphic images of broken body parts were seen after the incident, over 20 people were confirmed dead and the number is expected to rise.
The UBA 003S bus was moving from Fort Portal City towards Kyenjojo. Ms Faridah Nampiima the Traffic Police Spokesperson stated to media that of the 20 who died on spot 11 were male and the 9 female, with the cause of the accident still under police investigation.
A number of emergency ambulances were seen embarking and evacuating the injured to the nearby Buhinga hospital and Fort Portal Regional Referaal hospital.

Another fatal accident happened at 6:30am along Mbale-Tirinyi Road claiming lives of 4 people with more people feared dead and swept away by the running water of River Namatala. According to eye witnesses , the fast moving commuter taxi enroute to Kampala from Mbale was attempting to overtake another taxi and endedup having a head collusion with an oncoming Raum car veering off the road plunged into River Namatala along the road 193km East of Kampala only 4Km off Mbale City.
Many sustained serious injuries as the road became jammedup in the wee hours of the morning. ASP I. Alaso who is the North Bukedi Regional Police Spokesperson confirmed to media that the road has several blackspots and has over time claimed several lives.
She however attributes this to reckless driving, poor vehicle conditions and overspeeding.
