The late Speaker Jacob Oulanyah laid to rest in his ancestral home in Lalogi, Omoro District. Jacob Oulanyah passed on about three weeks ago as announced by President Museveni on 20th March at the University of Washington Medical Centre in Seattle, US where he was receiving specialised treatment for Cancer.
The late’s remains was repatriated by the state last Friday, welcomed, eulogised in Parliament and at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds as provided for in the Constitution of Uganda. His body was on Wednesday airlifted to his final resting place in Lalogi in his home where he was accorded state burial.
The state burial was celebrated by main celebrant Arch Bishop P. Kazimba Magulu, chief mourner Vice President Rt. Hon.Jessica Alupo and Ugandans of different hierarchy ranging from Religious fraternities, Political party leaderships UPC, DP, NRM FDC, NUP and others to Cultural leaders from the Northern region.
It is fortunate to say that the death of Jacob Oulanyah could unite the North as leaders gathered to possibly have a discussion on peace, Unity and development as hoped by many especially His Lordship CJ Alfonse Owiny Dollo.
Others in attendance included Deputy Chief of Defence Forces Peter Elwelu, Mugish Muntu, H.Karughanga, PM Robina Nabanja, etc who arrived early for the burial.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni couuld not make it physically to Ajuri Primary School the burial place due to official duties and has this morning left for Nairobi, Kenya, to witness the signing of the treaty of accession by the Democratic Republic of Congo to the East African Community his senior Press Secretary Lindah Nabusayi stated.
