By now we are all well acquainted with the Sunday drama at the 94th Academy Awards where Chris Rock the comedian and Co-host was slapped by Oscar winner Will Smith for cracking a joke on his wife Jada Smith Pinkett. Jada Pinkett suffers from Alopecia a medical term for baldness. The actress made known her condition in 2018 on a live television and since then her life hasn’t been the same.
Fans for both Will and Chris have applauded them for the apology. Both have come out publicly to criticise the manner in which they behaved. Whereas Chris apologised for cracking a flimpsy joke that earned him a slap, Will admitted his actions was wrong and disassociated himself from violence.
The Academy came out and critiqued Will’s actions calling for review in the drama.however we still don’t know the steps that follows.
Chris has also publicly said he will not press charges against the Oscar winner, something that his fans admired and saluted him for.
Will Smith’s son took his support to social media with a tweet ‘And that’s how we do it.’ Which literally blew the Internet with almost one million likes and over one hundred and forty retweets.
Well, for some of us who have taken baldness lightly, thank God this experience has created much awareness on Alopecia and its associated effects.
It’s good the two have realised apology is the beginning for recovery.
