President Museveni announced the death of Speaker Jacob Oulanyah on Sunday 20th March at 10.30 am. The President claims he delayed the announcement to allow his family get the information first.
However there had been several suspicions revolving his death since last week with several public figures and Ugandans posting obituary and pointing fingers.
Jacob Oulanyah had been receiving treatment in Seattle USA and was under the care of both family and government entities.
Oulanyah’s death is linked to terminal illness however it’s not yet clear what killed him.
The Speaker since the election in earlier 2021 had gone silent from Parliamentary office on claims of health related issues.
The Hon. MP of Omoro County was a lawyer, family man and public figure dearly loved the Acholi tribe especially Gulu District.
Jacob Oulanyah served as Deputy Speaker and was fronted as Speaker by a section of NRM MPs in 2021 against Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga, something that rose tension and divided the NRM caucus.
