Full, Lawrence Mulindwa’s St. Mary’s stadium Kitende was treated with noise of happiness as Buganda’s Masaza Cup final was played. Buddu beat Buwekula County 2:0 to emerge Champion of Airtel Masaza Cup in a highly charged final match along Entebbe Road.
Graced by the Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II himself among other diginitaries, for the first time two years later after the previous finals were played at Mandela National Stadium Namboole.
All 2nd half goals from Marvin Kavuma and Buyaga aided Buddu to overcome a more than 4 years’s sweat and win this year’s edition of this football tournament.
Buddu started the game on a fast method and high zeal looking for first half breakthrought, however all their efforts were curtailed by the solid defenders of Buwekula.
More threats kept on coming from Sharif Ssengendo and Geoffrey Gaganga but all could not break the dreadlock of captain Abdallah Sentongo’s side.
As a token of appreciation, Buddu were handed a 12 million cheque while runners up Bwekula walked away with Ugx 9 million.
