The catholic community of Saint Saint Charles Lwanga of St. Padre Pio MUBS recently unveiled a beautiful church founded twin project, the Saloon and Canteen.
In a colorful celebration that kick started with a mass celebrated by Msgr. Charles Kasibante at 1pm at the church alongside Msgr. Lawrence Ssemusu aka “Munakaylo” the Chaplain of the community. There was joy and excitement as the long-awaited project has become fiscal finally.
Speaking at the event, MUBS’ principal who also doubled as the Chief guest of the event stated he was so overwhelmed with a lot of effort put in place to ensure the completion of the structures. He further appreciated the church administration for their relentless effort and coordination with the University’s administration.
The event was attended the Deputy Principal, for Guild President Robinson Ogwang, Alumni and hundreds of faithful. This comes just few days after a strike threat at the Nakawa based University. Most finalist were angered by issues of missing marks and unclear retakes from the previous semester’s results due to the several technical glitches on the online examination system.
Students and residents of the surrounding communities will now be able to access the fully stocked Canteen and the fashionable saloon at any time of their conveniences with the student friendly prices compared to those at the surrounding areas of Small Gate ( TC), Nakawa, Kiiswa, Kataaza and Kinawataka.
The facility later on was recommissioned by the Deputy Speaker of Uganda Hon. Anita Among. Among who is not only an Alumnus of St Charles Lwanga of Saint Padre Pio MUBS but also that of MUBS is known for always muscling the steering debates on several bills motioned on the parliamentary chamber.
She appreciated the University for the support and promised to always do so to. She is one of those few politicians who never gets tired of supporting religious institutions regardless of differences.
‘We are honored to host our very own Alumnus the RT Hon Deputy Speaker of Parliament of Uganda. Congratulations upon reaching this far and again to us as students of MUBS, It is a reminder that we can only limit ourselves by thinking small…”says MUBS former Guild president H.E Robinson Ogwang.
“If we shared the same platforms with people like the Hon, then there is no limit to what each one of us can achieve. Let’s push on.” Ogwang continued.
