Today 21st December 2023 could have been declared as a national prayer day in Uganda.
Filled with several prayer gatherings across the country as the year comes to an end, several political parties knelt to God to help them against their political opponents.
These gatherings majorly aimed to bring sense of cohesion and political solidrity among the divides and lay strategy for the incoming year 2024.
Ugandan ‘s opposition political parties had their National Prayer Day at the National Unity Platform’s headquarters at Makerere Kavule with hundreds in attendance.
Among the political parties that turned up for this prayer includes the Former opposition big Political party Forum for Democratic Change- FDC, ANT, Uganda people’s Congress-UPC, and the current leader NUP.
In attendance included doctor Kizza Besigye former president of FDC and the current leader of the FDC Katonga faction, Gen.Mugisha Muntu and Winnie Kiiza of ANT, Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine, Joel SSenyoni of NUP Among others.
During this event many speakers condemned government brutality on the opposition and their supporters, illegal detention of NRM government criticisers.
Relatives of the missing could vividly be seen in the audience silently wailing in anguish for their missing beloved fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters. They were later donated chrismas packages.
During this event, opposition Criticized most religious leaders for being “Hyenas” and wolves hiding behind sheep’s wool in the redemption process of Uganda but rather frequently visiting statehouse for NRM prayers wherever called fall and dining with the “oppressors’.
As this was going on, a parallel end of year prayer organized by the office of the NRM Chairman was equally fast moving at the party’s headquarters in Kyambogo with coordinators from various regions across the country attending.
That day ended as some members of parliament scooped best performers’ award officiated by Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon Thomas Tayebwa during parliament’s end of year dinner with its drinks, bites, unique dancing styles and merry making.
