Last week was historic as the Queen of Buganda Nnaabagereka launched her autobiography titled ‘The Nnaabagereka of Buganda Sylvia Nagginda Luswata’ in a colorful ceremony at Sheraton Hotel in Kampala on 23rd March 2023.
The ceremony which was graced and presided over by Arch-Bishop Kazimba Mugalu had great reviews from different dignitaries. In attendance were representatives from Buganda Kingdom Kabaka’s uncle Ssaabaganzi Emmanuel Ssekitoleko, the Ssaabalangira Godfrey Musange among others, USA Ambassador Brown, former Vision Group CEO Mr. Robert Kabushenga, politicians, NGOs, Civil Society.
In her memoir Nnaabagereka narrates her experiences as a traditional queen amidst modernity and how destiny brought her to the Kabaka of Buganda His majesty Ronald Muwenda Mutebi ll. She as well extended appreciation to her husband for undieing support. “I would like to start by expressing extradinary appreciation from the depths of my heart to Ssabasajja Kabaka of Buganda for having allowed me to lend a hand to the progress and development of our regional people; for having allowed me to do both” Nnaabagereka said during the launch.
Despite her appreciation speech and representation from Buganda Kingdom, many believe the absence of the Kabaka and Katikkirk Charles Peter Mayiga was notable. The kingdom however broke the silence clarifying that the absence of Kabaka and Katikkiro was unavoidable as kingdom duties (meeting) coinsided with the book launch date.
Nnaabagereka’s autobiography is described as experiences ordinary Ugandans can relate to and learn from by the few that reviewed it.
