The Isebantu Kyabazinga Wilberforce Nadiope IV today the 18th November 2023 tied the knot with Inebantu Jovia Mutesi in a graceful Royal wedding presided over by the Archbishop of Church of Uganda His Grace Stephen Kazimba Mugalu in Christ Cathedral in Bugembe, Jinja District.
The royal wedding ceremony begun at 6 am with Royal visit to the Inebantu’s home Performing some traditional activities as Busoga culture demands: A lamp was lit signifying that the Inebantu was a light for the people of Busoga.
Royalties such as the Nnaabagereka of Buganda Slyvia Nagginda, Queen of Tooro Elizabeth Kemigisa, Rwot Acana of the Acholi Chiefdom, Kingdom Prime Ministers, cultural and religious leaders, Ministers and former ministers, families and friends all graced the ceremony. This is the second Royal wedding in Busoga and for many it was historic to witness and share the happiness of the Isebantu and Inebantu.
Inebantu Jovia Mutesi stunned royally in a long- trailed high nake laced gown, with simple makeup and of the Kabazinga in his black long court with golden embroidery Royal robe. The guests honored the day from flaunting colorful gomesi to beautiful gowns at the reception at the Ngenge Palace.
Both the Archbishop Kzimba Mugalu and President Museveni through the Guest of Honor, H.E Vice President Jesica Alupo echoed a message of Unity between the monarchy and were pleased that different kingdoms, Chiefdoms, cultural and religious leaders assembled in Bugembe in unity to celebrate the Royal Union.
The Archbishop in his message to the couple emphasized that marriage is between man and woman as God created Adam and Eve not Adam and Stephen.
Thousands of Basoga flooded Jinja streets celebrating the royal Union especially the arrival of the Inebantu who many believe will address women related issues like maternity, school drop outs etc.
Though the event was colorful with excitement, some unfortunately lost their lives in an accident in Kamuli District. It’s alleged the cause was over speeding.
