Veronica Netondo a third year student of Agro-processing Engineering at Busitema University promises financial accountability if elected in the 2017/2018 guild elections.
During an interview that was conducted earlier last week, Veronica started with words of praise to her university. She eulogized Busitema to be the best Government University for agriculture and engineering sciences in Uganda.
This young, ambitious woman is contesting for the position of finance secretary and on her manifesto list, she intends to serve the students rather than lead them. She believes that through service, students can achieve their academic expectations despite their financial constraints.
Veronica has exhibited her leadership prowess from as early as her morning days of school; in Primary three as a class captain, later she was elected for head girl and social Etiquette prefect at Dabani Girls Secondary School. She has also held small positions such as treasurer for straight Talk, Chairperson YCS and many more. With this juicy political CV she has what it takes to deliver to her voters.
As her manifesto states, Veronica vows to ensure that there will be transparency in the finances. She emphasizes financial accountability from both the student leaders’ body and the administration. Veronica, who will be the bridge between the two, advocates for the provision of required resources, proper and appropriate allocation of resources as the way forward for her role as the financial secretary.
Like the park yard market workers who cried out loud to the government during the demolishing of the market, Veronica called upon all the students to flood her with their votes if they want change to be effected. Veronica believes she is the best and potential candidate for the post.
