In an interview with the beautiful Leila Kayondo who is a Ugandan musician and a passionate fashion designer, The Campusa magazine learnt a lot in relation to her career and education. Success does not come easy, we work for it. Like any other normal child, she went through secondary education as well as university and graduated with a bachelor degree in Social Works and Administration. Despite the fact that music and fashion is her career, Leila agrees that education is important and it is the key to success as she explained that her knowledge in Social Works and Administration is being exhibited in her businesses which wouldn’t be possible if she did not finish school. It is quite unfortunate that while at campus she was bullied and looked at differently but this did not affect her self-esteem however she calls upon authorities to work upon it.
The vocalist behind several hits like Relaxing featuring Jose Chameleon, Awo, is focused on going international. Musaayi is her latest song and expected to be a big hit as the song was played on trace music ‘I want my music to inspire the youth and people should live with my music’ she added. Unlike other artists who beef each other in the music industry, Kayondo says she does not work on competition but rather she works at her own pace. She advices students and other people to fall in love with their work because passion is very important, it drives people to success.
Music goes well with fashion, however this diva has taken her passion for fashion to whole new level as her boutique Lkay which is situated at Kabalagala Kingsgate mall in Kampala showcase it all. She dresses by the mood and always absolutely stunning.
