EXCITEMENT AS MAKERERE GUILD RALLIES KICK OFF.

There was palpable excitement all around Makerere University as the guild rallies kicked off in Complex hall, a girls residence hall. Announcements had been made prior about the candidates that had been passed by the University Registrar as fit to vie for the highest office in the land. These included Mr. Kato Paul on the FDC ticket, Mr Agadi Lulician Twongeirwe, Mr. Isabirye kenneth, Mr. Kizito Emmanuel Luwukya, Miss. Mpambaisi Alituha Doreen, Miss. Nampande Ruth Nsubuga, Mr. Sentale Andrew, and Mr. Kihiika enry. Zilitwawula Abdul Karim and Lakisa Faith Mercy were cleared later just as the rally was about to kick off.

The MC of the event, PRO of the guild council, Mr Abbey Abbas was at pains keeping order when the Kato Paul supporters clashed with the Ruth Nsubuga camp and noisy chants were hurled. It got worse when the  Zilitwawula camp joined in. All candidates failed to keep time and arrived about two hours late and failed to control their supporters.

This rally, the first of many to come, was utilized by the candidates to showcase themselves to the Makerere University fraternity since the noise and mayhem made it impossible for any salient issues to be  discussed. On the surface, the most capable candidates seemed to be Lakisa Faith, Nsubuga Ruth, Zilitwawula Abdul, and Ssentale Andrew owing to their being confident and audible. Sunday will be the guild debate and we hope the candidates come with more matter than hall anthems.
