Telecom companies have confirmed the ban on scratched airtime cards by UCC. Uganda Communications Center has issued a ban on scratched airtime cards beginning 1st August 2018. Customers are encouraged to switch to electronic recharge while buying airtime or data bundles. Is this a fair directive given the fact that mobile money tax is still under review in Parliament? This ban however does not come as a surprise, since last year UCC has been encouraging telecom companies to switch. One of the reasons may be health related as most researchers have concluded scratched cards as cancerous.
