ACCA INTRODUCED AT MAKERERE UNIVERSITY.

The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) has introduced its prestigious Courses at Makerere University, particularly at the College of Business and Management Sciences (CoBAMS). ACCA signed a Memorandum of Understanding with CoBAMS in 2014 allowing the college to give lectures and exams on its behalf. Enrollment and registration are Ongoing.

Last year (2016) on 29th February, ACCA signed another Memorandum of Understanding with CoBAMS issuing a unique discount to students of Bachelors of Commerce, who register for ACCA before they complete their undergraduate studies. Some of the subsidies include Exemption from the examination fee and a reduced registration fee. Encouraging students to utilize this rare opportunity, Mr. Umar Kakumba said it was a stepping Stone in fulfilling the demands and trends of a contemporary accounting world. Representing ACCA Uganda, Miss Beatrice Isangayite said, “At ACCA we believe that Accountants bring value to economies in all stages of development. We aim at developing Capacity in the profession and consistent global standards.” Mr. Godfrey Akileng, Head of Department, Accounting and Finance, highlighted the benefits Makerere University has reaped from partnering with ACCA. He said that at the 66th Graduation ceremony in January last year, ACCA awarded a £1000 grant to Mugyema Edward who had topped the accounting class.

ACCA is a world leading body for accountants that was established in 1904. It has over 400 affiliate institutions, Makerere University included, in over 117 countries. It was introduced in Uganda in 2004.

You can enroll for the program at different levels of Qualifications including Professional Level which requires a degree, Fundamental Level Which requires secondary school papers, and Foundation level.
